Manuscript Outline & Guidelines
First Page File
  1. The first page file must start with a letter to the Editor-in-Chief from the corresponding author. The items mentioned below must be included in this cover letter:
    • That the manuscript is submitted to the "Journal of Experimental Biology and Zoological Studies" alone and has not been published anywhere, simultaneously submitted, or already accepted for publication elsewhere.
    • That the manuscript has been read and approved by all the authors, that the requirements for authorship have been met, and that each author believes that the manuscript represents honest work.
    • A declaration that the manuscript will not be withdrawn after receiving the comments of the peer reviewers and agree to modify the manuscript as per the comments of peer reviewers, or proper justification will be provided for comments that could not be agreed or addressed.
    • If the manuscript was presented as part at a meeting, mention the organization, place, and exact date on which it was read. A full statement about all submissions and previous reports that might be regarded as redundant publication of the same or very similar work should be referenced in the new paper. Links of such material should be mentioned to help the editor decide how to handle the matter.
  2. In the subsequent pages of the first page file, the following items must be provided:
    • Title of the manuscript.
    • Running title (short title in less than 50 characters).
    • Full names of all the authors (first name, middle name, last name).
    • Department of all authors and their affiliations.
    • For manuscripts with co-authors, provide a description of contributions made by each of the authors towards the manuscript. Description should be divided in the following categories, as applicable: concept, design, definition of intellectual content, literature search, clinical studies, experimental studies, data acquisition, data analysis, statistical analysis, manuscript preparation, manuscript editing and manuscript review. One author should take responsibility for the integrity of the work as a whole from inception to published article and should be designated as the corresponding author (guarantor).
    • Name of corresponding author with complete postal address.
    • Mobile number and email ID of the corresponding author.
  3. Acknowledgement: One or more statements should specify (a) contributions that need acknowledging but do not justify authorship, such as general support by a departmental chair; (b) acknowledgments of technical help; and (c) acknowledgments of financial and material support, which should specify the nature of the support.
  4. Financial Support and Sponsorship: Authors need to declare if they have received any financial support and sponsorship (sources of support in the form of grants, equipment, drugs, or all of these).
  5. Conflicts of Interest: Authors need to declare if they have any conflict of interest. A statement of financial or other relationships that might lead to a conflict of interest.
⚠ Note: Do not mention the above items in the manuscript file.

  • A list of 4–7 key words is to be provided directly below the abstract.
  • Key words should express the precise content of the manuscript, as they are used for indexing purposes.
  • Keywords should be arranged in alphabetical order.

Introduction 100–1200 words ▼
  • Maximum 3–4 paragraphs without sub-headings.
  • 100–200 words to introduce your topic.
  • 500–1000 words of literature review.
  • Last paragraph should be the aim of the study (general objective).

Materials and Methods 200–400 words ▼
  • Describe study population and location.
  • Mention study period (for original studies, the start of the study must be after the date of ethical approval).
  • Study design & sampling methods.
  • List of questionnaires used and from where adopted.
  • Any pretest done? Validation?
  • State ethical statement with approval from which institute, reference number, and date of approval.

Results 500–1000 words ▼
  • No need to explain each table in detail — only headlines.
  • First paragraph describes the characteristics of the sample.

Discussion 500–1000 words ▼
  • Maximum 3–4 paragraphs.
  • 1st paragraph: the study's main findings.
  • 2nd paragraph: the study limitations.
  • 3rd and 4th paragraphs: compare your results with previous studies.

Conclusion ~200 words ▼

1 paragraph with maximum 3–4 sentences including recommendations if any.

  • In Vancouver style.
  • Web references must have complete website address and date of last access.

Tables & Figures Max 6 total ▼
  • The total number of tables and figures allowed in an original article is 6 (either 6 tables, 6 figures, or a mixture not exceeding 6).
  • Title of each table must be self-explanatory.
  • Include confidence interval and p value wherever possible.
  • Tables should not be large (maximum 6 columns and 12 rows).
  • Table 1: Socio-demographic characteristics.
  • Table 2: Dependent variable (outcome).
  • Table 3: Association table (Socio-demographic and dependent).
  • Table 4: Association table (other factors and dependent).
  • Table 5: Multivariable table.
  • Tables can be converted to figures as applicable.
  • Figures must be provided as images in JPEG format with high resolution.
  • Titles of the figures must not be written inside the figures — write separately as legends to the figures after the references.
